Your Energy is Precious

Do you ever find yourself justifying what you do or how you do it… to someone who was never going to be your client in the first place?

I caught myself doing exactly that the other week. I’d fallen into the trap of explaining and defending my choices to someone who, quite frankly, wasn’t my audience, didn’t understand my work, and was never going to invest in it. It wasn’t even a heated conversation — more of a subtle, niggling sense of having to prove my worth.

Then I checked myself. I remembered that my energy is precious. That the right people don’t need persuading they already get it. And the wrong people are simply not my people.

That’s when I called on Funky Diva Ivy.

Meet Ivy: Calm in the Storm

Ivy is the grounded voice in a noisy world. She’s calm, collected, and deeply rooted in self-assurance.

She’s been where you’ve been,  carrying heavy loads that weren’t hers to carry, holding onto outdated roles, outdated clothes, outdated expectations. At one point, she was living in a constant state of “should,” playing the part others expected, shrinking to keep the peace.

But Ivy learned something that changed everything - letting go isn’t weakness. It’s strength.

Her release wasn’t a dramatic purge or a midnight decision to burn the rulebook. It was a gradual, steady loosening of her grip. A decision to trust herself. A knowing that what’s meant for her will always find her.

Her energy is soft but resolute. She doesn’t shout to be heard, she embodies the peace that comes when you stop gripping so tightly. And she inspires others to do the same.

Why This Matters to You

If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve been in that position too. You’ve explained your boundaries, your choices, your business decisions… sometimes to people who don’t even want to understand.

You’ve been drawn into conversations that leave you drained, second-guessing, or questioning if you’re “doing it right.”

But remember you’re not here to win over the masses. You’re here to do your work, your way, for the people who value it.

You’re probably in your ‘second chapter’ phase of life. You’ve left the corporate noise, the politics, maybe you were like me, in a bullying and toxic environment. Or maybe it was burnout that made you say “enough.”  And now, you’ve built a business that works on your terms but that online world still creeps in. The hustle culture. The shiny-object marketing. The endless pressure to prove your worth in likes, views, and vanity metrics.

You don’t want it. But sometimes, it still pulls at you. That’s where Ivy’s energy becomes a game-changer.

The Power of Release

Letting go is more than decluttering a wardrobe or archiving a set of files. It’s a mindset shift. A lifestyle choice. When you start releasing - really releasing- you create the space for something better to enter.

You let go of:

Old stories that say you need to work twice as hard to be taken seriously
Costumes you’ve been wearing -  in style, in personality, in business -  just to “fit in”
Roles that no longer align with who you are now, but you’ve been scared to step away from
You stop explaining yourself to people who aren’t invested in your success.
You reclaim hours of your life that used to be spent defending decisions, and you channel that time into what feeds you.

Your Wardrobe as a Mirror

Now, you know my work touches on personal style, not as fashion fluff, but as a mirror of identity.

When you hold onto clothes that don’t feel like you anymore, they quietly reinforce old stories. The blazer that screams “corporate compliance” instead of creative leadership. The dress that fits but no longer lights you up. The shoes you can’t walk in but keep because they were expensive.

Ivy would say, “You don’t need to carry all that anymore.” And she’s right.

When you release those items, you’re not just making physical space,  you’re signalling to yourself (and the world) that you’re done performing. That you’re ready to dress for who you are now, not who you were then.

Protecting Your Energy in Business

This is bigger than clothes. It’s about protecting your mental and emotional space.

That means:

Not every coffee chat needs to be accepted. If it’s not aligned, it’s a no.

Not every piece of feedback is worth absorbing. Some opinions are just noise.

Not every opportunity is for you. The “right” opportunity will feel expansive, not heavy.

Your gift is your depth. Your empathy and ability to see the big picture and connect with others on a heart-level. But that also makes you vulnerable to energy leaks. You care deeply and you want to help. And that’s beautiful… until it starts draining you.Ivy’s wisdom reminds us that our energy is a finite resource. Spend it on people and projects that are truly aligned.

How to Tap Into Ivy’s Energy

Pause before you respond. When someone questions your choices, ask yourself - do they genuinely want to understand, or are they just passing judgment? If it’s the latter, you owe them nothing.

Audit your commitments. Look at your diary. Which tasks or meetings feel like a joy? Which feel like a drain? Let go of the ones you can.

Release the “shoulds.” Just because “everyone” is on TikTok, doing challenges, or chasing the same goal doesn’t mean you have to.

Dress in alignment. Wear clothes that support the energy you want to carry into the day. Calm. Confident. Unapologetically you.

Remind yourself of your worth daily. Journaling, affirmations, gratitude lists - whatever keeps you rooted in self-belief.

The Ripple Effect

When you embody Ivy’s energy, you stop chasing validation. You move differently. You make decisions from a place of grounded confidence, not fear of missing out.

You’ll notice that…

Your conversations become richer, because you’re speaking to people who get it.

Your style becomes more effortless, because you’re no longer dressing to please others.

Your business feels lighter, because you’re working with aligned clients who value what you do.

And most importantly, you feel lighter.
Letting Go to Step Up
Releasing isn’t about stepping back - it’s about stepping up. You’re clearing away the clutter so you can see the horizon again. You’re making room for the opportunities, relationships, and experiences that will actually nourish you.

You don’t need to prove your worth to anyone. The people who are meant to work with you already see it. They’re drawn to your energy, your integrity, your way of doing things differently.

And just like Ivy, you have the power to create a calm, grounded presence that cuts through the noise and attracts exactly what’s meant for you.

So this week, I invite you to ask yourself:

What’s one thing physical, emotional, or mental that you’re ready to release? Then, let it go and watch what flows in to take its place.

If you’d like my support in creating a presence that reflects who you are now, not who you used to be, let’s talk. My Funky Diva Strategy Sessions are designed to help you align your clothes, your energy, and your next chapter.

Dressing + Identity + Vibe = Alignment

Because when you stop carrying what no longer fits, you finally have the space to shine.
