Reflections on Turning 61 and Stepping into My Funky Diva Era

The real turning point didn’t happen on my 61st birthday. As you know I drew my line in the sand back in April and started paring everything back.  Then another layer peeled back last week, during a clarity session with life architect and mentor, Nikki Stock. She has that rare gift of asking probing questions that go straight to your truth and also make you look at things from a different perspective.

We talked about where I’ve been, what I’ve built, and what I want my next chapter to feel like. Not look like - feel like. Somewhere between talking about the impact I want to have and the life I want to live, a voice in my head said “ The time is now, I’m ready to properly simplify.”

It landed with a quiet thud of certainty. It’s taken a while, but I feel like I’ve  shifted from thinking about change to embodying it.

I’m fully ready to step into my Funky Diva Era. Not a reinvention, but a refinement. A conscious Unsausaging.

If you’re new to that word, Unsausaging is my metaphor for stepping away from the sausage machine of conformity - the system that squeezes us into shapes that no longer fit. It’s the process of peeling back layers of expectation and rediscovering your unique ‘flavour’.

Stop diluting the magic

I realised that even though I teach alignment and authenticity for a living, I was still in the machine in subtle ways myself. Saying yes to things that don’t light me up, for example, I booked onto a business event for this November a year in advance, last November. The speaker line up has been announced; the topics aren’t relevant to where I’m at right now. I had still been planning to go, I booked the hotel a couple of weeks ago. But actually, why? It will be a nice jolly, but it is not aligned with my current goals. I’m cancelling the hotel and going to gift my ticket and pay it forward.

I’m still offering lots of options of ways to access my expertise – online courses that I don’t really promote for example. It’s felt like an obligation to keep them because of all the hard work I put into creating them. Plus, I know that they are proven to get results. But unless I’m actively promoting them non one is going to buy them – they are getting dusty on the online shelf. I’m carrying too much of what used to make sense but doesn’t anymore.

So I made the decision to stop diluting my magic and focus only on what feels alive, expansive, and true.

The intersection of soul, science and self-expression

From here on, I’ll be offering just two exclusive private experiences – my Sparkle and Dazzle  packages - twelve places a year in total. That’s it. Because this level of work deserves time, space, and depth. These aren’t just styling packages. They’re transformational experiences where we align your energy, identity, and presence so you feel fully expressed and effortlessly visible.

It’s not about quick fixes or fixing my clients. It’s about activating what’s already there.

This is where my best work happens - at the intersection of soul, science, and self-expression. Not fashion or fluffy stuff -  proper alignment.

I’d been procrastafaffing the decision because it means – lots of behind-the-scenes tech stuff and moving things from my website and online platform. But that’s it now, I’ve made the decision and have made enquiries to facilitate it.

I want the pace of my life feel to feel calmer but still laced with purpose. I’m leaning more into joy, creativity, and nourishment as non-negotiables. Because we all know if you’re not nourishing yourself first  -physically, mentally and creatively, you eventually run out of sparkle to give.

Embrace & honour who you are

“I’m ready.”

Two small words that carry a lifetime of lessons. Ready to embrace what’s next. Ready to honour who I’ve become - wiser, braver, and unapologetically me.

I’m channelling Funky Diva Claire.

“Claire spent years waiting - waiting until she felt ready, waiting for everything to line up, waiting for permission. But she’s done with waiting. This is her chapter, and she’s claiming it fully. Not by rushing or proving, but by stepping into the woman she’s become-  wiser, braver, unapologetic. Claire knows her past shaped her, but it doesn’t define her. She’s not chasing who she used to be. She’s embracing who she is now. Her energy is grounded yet determined. Claire shows us it’s never too late to rise into our own lives and finally put ourselves centre stage. She’s a reminder that the clock isn’t ticking against you - it’s ticking for you.”

And I feel that deep in my bones.

Because we’ve all done it, and been waiting for the right time, the right energy, the right plan. But life isn’t about waiting. It’s about living like this is my time.
Unsausaging
The clarity session with Nikki helped me see that it’s not about adding more, but about removing what’s in the way of joy. It’s not about reinvention, it’s about reclamation.

That’s what Unsausaging looks like now:

Letting go of pressure and perfectionism
Prioritising nourishment and creativity
Saying yes only when it feels aligned
Allowing softness without losing strength

My joy from now on will be slow mornings, painting Funky Divas, knitting on rainy afternoons, cooking food that actually supports my body, and moving it gently, without pain or guilt. I’m learning that rest and reflection are productive too - sometimes more so than a to-do list.

It’s funny, isn’t it? So much of life is about striving, building, proving. Then one day, you wake up and realise that the most radical thing you can do is stop. Breathe. Simplify. Choose peace.

That’s what this Funky Diva Era means to me.

I’ll still be creating. The Funky Diva Deck remain the catalyst for connection and reflection. There might even be more decks or a retreat ahead. The ideas are bubbling. But for now, I’m protecting the space to let them unfold naturally.

Because this era isn’t about constant creation (as a manifesting generator that’s been my way). It needs to be about curated creation that’s steeped in joy and authenticity, not urgency.
Begin where you are
My Sparkle or Dazzle client will get it. She’s the woman who’s achieved so much but senses there’s more. Not more to do, but more to be. She’s tired of the noise, the hustle, the “six-figure business” nonsense. She wants calm, depth, alignment, and connection. She doesn’t want fixing,  she wants freeing.

That’s who the Sparkle and Dazzle packages  are for. They’re not about shopping sprees or surface-level makeovers. They’re about becoming visible in a way that feels aligned, comfortable, and powerful. Because when you’re fully aligned, your presence speaks before you do.

This is my time. And maybe, it’s yours too.

If you’ve been waiting for permission, consider this your sign. You don’t need to be younger, thinner, richer, or more ready. You just need to begin - right where you are.

Because the clock isn’t ticking against you. It’s ticking for you.

And it’s never too late to shine.
